From that time Jesus began to preach and to say "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:19 NKJV
Jesus had left the wilderness after being tempted by the devil. He learned that John the Baptist had been placed in prison. It was time to start his ministry. He began with "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Very few religions start that way.
I am sure at the time, the people who heard him scoffed and thought "Here we go again." There had been so many, and they all were flops. But for a few, there was something different about Jesus.
Christ resonates for those of us open to receive him.Yeah, a few of us had to be persuaded, but sometimes even the hardest atheist will change his tune once he is open.
I know the world thinks Christians are close-minded, but that's because they do not understand the message. To them it's jibber jabber. But if you do understand, you are on the right path. Stay on it, and watch the word of God be revealed.
